چکیده

A spin density-wave quantum critical point (QCP) is the central organizing principle of organic, iron-pnictide, heavy-fermion and electron-doped cuprate superconductors. It accounts for the superconducting Tc dome, the non-Fermi-liquid resistivity, and the Fermi-surface reconstruction. Outside the magnetically ordered phase above the QCP, scattering and pairing decrease in parallel as the system moves away from the QCP. Here we argue that a similar scenario, based on a stripe-order QCP, is a central organizing principle of hole-doped cuprate superconductors. Key properties of La1.8!xEu0.2SrxCuO4, La1.6!xNd0.4SrxCuO4 and YBa2Cu3Oy are naturally unified, including stripe order itself, its QCP, Fermi-surface reconstruction, the linear-T resistivity, and the nematic character of the pseudogap phase. ! 2012 Elsevier B.V. Charge stripes in cuprate superconductors: The middle way

Charge and spin stripe order is a type of electronic crystal observed in certain layered cuprates associated with high-temperature superconductivity. Quantum-disordered stripes could be relevant for understanding the superconductivity. Here I discuss recent experimental characterizations of the stripe-ordered state in La1.875Ba0.125CuO4, and compare them with properties of superconducting compo...

Quantum phase transitions in cuprates: stripes and antiferromagnetic supersolids

It is believed that the magnetic fluctuations in cuprate superconductors reflect the proximity to a quantum phase transition. It will be argued that this notion acquires further credibility if combined with the idea that the superconducting state is in a tight competition with the stripe phase over a large range of hole concentrations. On basis of existing data and some simple considerations, a...

A quantum phase transition from triangular to stripe charge order in NbSe2

The competition between proximate electronic phases produces a complex phenomenology in strongly correlated systems. In particular, fluctuations associated with periodic charge or spin modulations, known as density waves, may lead to exotic superconductivity in several correlated materials. However, density waves have been difficult to isolate in the presence of chemical disorder, and the suspe...

Stripes and superconductivity in one-dimensional self-consistent model

We show that many observable properties of high temperature superconductors can be obtained in the frameworks of one-dimensional self-consistent model with included superconducting correlations. Analytical solutions for spin, charge and superconductivity order parameters are found. The ground state of the model at low hole doping is a spin-charge solitonic superstructure. Increasing of doping l...

Decrease of upper critical field with underdoping in cuprate superconductors

It is still unclear why the transition temperature Tc of cuprate superconductors falls with underdoping. The doping dependence of the critical magnetic field Hc2 is directly relevant to this question, but different estimates of Hc2 are in sharp contradiction. We resolve this contradiction by tracking the characteristic field scale of superconducting fluctuations as a function of doping, via mea...
